USDA Finalizes Rule Excluding Combat Pay from WIC Income Eligibility Determinations

The US Department of Agriculture has finalized a rule that excludes combat pay from income eligibility determinations for deployed service members participating in the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC), as mandated by the 2010 Agriculture Appropriations Act. The rule also updates WIC regulations to reflect the name change of the Food Stamp Program to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), as enacted by the 2008 Food, Conservation and Energy Act.
