US Amends Regulations on Commercial Transportation of Horses to Slaughter

The US Department of Agriculture is updating its rules to better protect horses destined for slaughter, requiring a definition of what constitutes an 'equine' for slaughter and expanding protections to horses that are first delivered to a holding facility before being transported to a slaughterhouse.
