U.S. Census Bureau Eliminates Social Security Number as Identification Number in Automated Export System

The U.S. Census Bureau has finalized a rule to remove the requirement to report Social Security Numbers as identification numbers when registering and filing electronic export information in the Automated Export System, in an effort to protect SSNs in accordance with the Privacy Act of 1974.
