FDA Approves Propofol for Veterinary Use in Dogs and Cats

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has amended its animal drug regulations to allow the prescription use of propofol, a commonly used anesthetic, for veterinary treatment of dogs and cats, following approval of a new application by Fort Dodge Animal Health, a division of pharmaceutical company Wyeth.
