HIPAA Rule Modifications in Response to HITECH Act Amendments

The Department of Health and Human Services is issuing a notice of proposed rulemaking to modify HIPAA Privacy, Security, and Enforcement Rules in response to recent statutory amendments under the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act. The goal is to enhance the protection of health information and improve the effectiveness of these rules.
