Metrics and Standards for Intercity Passenger Rail Service under Section 207 of the Passenger Rail Investment and Improvement Act of 2008

The Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) and Amtrak developed new or improved metrics and standards for measuring the performance and service quality of intercity passenger train operations, in compliance with the Passenger Rail Investment and Improvement Act of 2008. The FRA and Amtrak jointly posted a draft document on their website, requesting comments from various stakeholders, including rail carriers, states, and Amtrak employees, before finalizing the metrics and standards.
