FAA Proposes New Airworthiness Directive for Certain McDonnell Douglas DC-10 Models
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) proposes a new airworthiness directive (AD) for certain McDonnell Douglas DC-10 models to prevent lightning-induced transients from affecting the fuel quantity indication system, which could lead to a fuel tank explosion. The proposed AD would require installing a support bracket and coupler on the left and right wing-to-fuselage transition, and metallic overbraid on the left and right leading edge wire assembly.
