DOE Amends Record of Decision for Decommissioning of Eight Surplus Reactors at Hanford Site
The US Department of Energy is revising its 1993 decision on decommissioning eight surplus nuclear reactors at the Hanford Site in Washington state, following a comprehensive environmental impact assessment. The reactors, which operated from 1944 to 1971, will be safely stored before removal, in line with a 1993 agreement and ongoing cleanup schedules.
