Federal Reserve Board Requests Public Comment on Proposed Repeal of Interest Prohibition on Demand Deposits

The Federal Reserve Board is seeking public input on proposed rule changes that would eliminate the prohibition on paying interest on demand deposits, a regulation that has been in place since 1977, effective July 21, 2011, as mandated by the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act.
