NMFS Announces 5-Year Review for Endangered Saimaa Seal

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) intends to conduct a 5-year review of the endangered Saimaa seal, a subspecies of the ringed seal, to ensure the accuracy of its listing classification under the Endangered Species Act (ESA). The review will be based on the best available scientific and commercial data, and NMFS is requesting information on the seal's status, threats, and conservation efforts since the previous review in January 2018.
