Employment Authorization for Haitian F-1 Nonimmigrant Students Experiencing Severe Economic Hardship as a Direct Result of the January 12, 2010 Earthquake in Haiti

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has issued a notice to temporarily suspend certain regulations for F-1 nonimmigrant students from Haiti who are experiencing severe economic hardship due to the 2010 Haiti earthquake. The suspension allows these students to work more hours, reduce their course load, and maintain their F-1 status while obtaining employment authorization.
