US Coast Guard Introduces Limited Service Domestic Voyage Load Lines for River Barges on Lake Michigan

The US Coast Guard is launching a new load line regime to exempt unmanned dry-cargo river barges from normal Great Lakes load line requirements while operating on Lake Michigan, enabling them to transport non-hazardous cargoes from inland river ports to destinations such as Milwaukee and Muskegon, resulting in cost savings.
