EPA Grants and Denies Petitions for U.S. Steel Mon Valley Works Operating Permit

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator signed an order on September 16, 2025, partially granting and denying two petitions related to a Clean Air Act operating permit for U.S. Steel Mon Valley Works' secondary steel processing facility in Pennsylvania. The petitions were filed by United States Steel Corporation and the Environmental Integrity Project, PennFuture, and Clean Air Council.
