VA Establishes Presumptive Service Connection for Rare Respiratory Cancers

The Department of Veterans Affairs has finalized a rulemaking that grants presumptive service connection for nine rare respiratory cancers associated with exposure to fine particulate matter, primarily affecting veterans who served in the Southwest Asia theater of operations during the Persian Gulf War or in Afghanistan, Syria, Djibouti, or Uzbekistan after September 19, 2001.
