FAA Withdraws Proposed Rulemaking for IAE LLC Engines

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has withdrawn a proposed rulemaking that would have superseded two airworthiness directives related to International Aero Engines, LLC (IAE LLC) engines. The directives, AD 2022-19-15 and AD 2023-16-07, require angled ultrasonic inspections of certain engine components to detect cracks, and the FAA is instead adopting a new approach to address the increased risk of powder metal anomalies.
