US Fish and Wildlife Service Finds Gopher Tortoise Not Endangered or Threatened Rangewide, But Western Segment Meets Threatened Criteria

The US Fish and Wildlife Service has announced findings on the status of the gopher tortoise, determining that it does not meet the criteria for endangered or threatened species status across its entire range, but the western segment does meet the criteria for a threatened species, according to the Endangered Species Act of 1973.
