UPS Exemption Renewed by FMCSA for 5 Years

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has provisionally renewed a 5-year exemption for United Parcel Service, Inc. (UPS) from various provisions of the mandate to use electronic logging devices (ELD), allowing the company to continue using portable, driver-based ELDs to record engine data in commercial vehicles and configuring ELDs with yard-move modes that don't require re-inputting status when the tractor is powered off.
