CMS Finalizes Medicare Hospital Outpatient Payment and Quality Reporting Rule

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has released a final rule revising the Medicare hospital outpatient prospective payment system and ambulatory surgical center payment system for 2023, updating quality reporting programs, and establishing new requirements for rural emergency hospitals. The rule also addresses prior authorization, organ acquisition, and overall hospital quality star ratings.
