New SEMS Rule for OCS Oil and Gas Operations
The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement (BOEMRE) is establishing a new subpart requiring oil and gas operators to develop and implement Safety and Environmental Management Systems (SEMS) for operations in the Outer Continental Shelf (OCS). This rule aims to reduce the risk of accidents, following the Deepwater Horizon incident on April 20, 2010.
