Adoption of Energy Efficiency Standards for New Construction of HUD- and USDA-Financed Housing: Preliminary Determination and Solicitation of Comment; Extension of Comment Period

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) have announced a preliminary determination that adopting the 2021 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) and ASHRAE 90.1-2019 code standards for new construction of HUD- and USDA-financed housing will not negatively impact affordability and availability. The agencies are seeking public comment on the preliminary determination, which was initially set to end on July 17, 2023, but has been extended to August 7, 2023.
