Revisions and Additions to Motor Vehicle Fuel Economy Label

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) are jointly proposing to redesign and enhance the fuel economy label on new vehicles sold in the U.S. starting with model year 2012, providing consumers with more detailed information on fuel economy, costs, and environmental impacts. This change aims to improve informed vehicle purchasing decisions and accommodate emerging advanced technology vehicles such as plug-in hybrid electric vehicles and electric vehicles.
