Federal Agencies Must Obtain OMB Approval for Public Information Collections

Before collecting public information, federal agencies must receive approval from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and solicit public comment on proposed collections, including extensions and reinstatements of previously approved collections, as mandated by the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995.
