FMCSA Amends Regulations for Rear Impact Guards on Commercial Motor Vehicles

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has amended the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations to include rear impact guards in the list of items that must be inspected annually on commercial motor vehicles, while also revising labeling requirements and excluding certain trailers from the rule, following rulemaking petitions and a Government Accountability Office (GAO) recommendation.
