CDC Adds SARS-CoV/SARS-CoV-2 Chimeric Viruses to List of Select Agents and Toxins

The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is amending its regulations to include SARS-CoV/SARS-CoV-2 chimeric viruses resulting from manipulating SARS-CoV-2 to incorporate SARS-CoV virulence factors, requiring prior CDC approval for their creation.
