PHMSA Amends Pipeline Safety Regulations to Designate Sensitive Coastal Areas

The Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) is updating its pipeline safety regulations to require operators of hazardous liquid pipelines to include newly designated sensitive coastal areas, such as the Great Lakes and coastal beaches, in their integrity management programs, in accordance with the Protecting our Infrastructure of Pipelines and Enhancing Safety (PIPES) Act of 2016 and its 2020 amendments.
