U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Grants Waste Control Specialists LLC Extension to Store Transuranic Waste

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has issued an environmental assessment and found no significant impact, allowing Waste Control Specialists LLC (WCS) to continue storing transuranic waste from the Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) without a license until December 31, 2024, under terms of a 2014 Order that exempted WCS from NRC regulations.
