EPA Approves Revisions to State Implementation Plans for Chemical Process Plants in Multiple States
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is approving revisions to the State Implementation Plans (SIP) for Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, and South Carolina, which modify the definition of chemical process plants to exclude ethanol manufacturing facilities that produce ethanol by natural fermentation processes. The changes clarify that the PSD major source applicability threshold for these ethanol plants is 250 tons per year, rather than 100 tons per year.
