The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) is releasing an updated version of its Regulatory Guide 1.178, which outlines a risk-informed approach to inspecting piping systems in nuclear power plants. The revised guide aligns with the NRC's defense-in-depth philosophy and incorporates standards from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Code Case N-716-1.
