U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission Issues Rule to Improve Safety of Adult Portable Bed Rails

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has determined that adult portable bed rails pose a significant risk of injury and death due to entrapment and other hazards, and is requiring manufacturers to meet existing voluntary standards with modifications to reduce this risk, with estimated annual benefits of up to $298 million and costs of approximately $2 million.
