NMFS Grants Preliminary Approval for Exempted Fishing Permit Application for Limited Access Sea Scallop Regulations

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) has given preliminary approval to an Exempted Fishing Permit application for four commercial fishing vessels to temporarily exempt them from limited access sea scallop regulations while researchers study a new gear type to reduce bycatch and habitat impacts, and improve fuel efficiency.
