Pipeline Safety Regulations to Improve Safety of Hazardous Liquid Pipelines

The Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) is amending its regulations in response to congressional mandates, NTSB and GAO recommendations, and public input to enhance the safety of pipelines transporting hazardous liquids. The new rules will require pipeline inspections in extreme weather conditions and extend leak detection system use to all non-gathering pipelines.
