FMCSA Receives Applications for Exemptions from Hearing Requirement for Hard of Hearing and Deaf Drivers

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has received applications from 29 individuals seeking exemptions from the hearing requirement in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSRs) to operate commercial motor vehicles (CMVs) in interstate commerce. These exemptions would allow hard of hearing and deaf individuals to drive CMVs across state lines.
