Hazardous Materials: Liquefied Natural Gas by Rail

The Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) is proposing changes to the Hazardous Materials Regulations to allow for the bulk transport of liquefied natural gas (LNG) by rail, in coordination with the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA). The proposed rule aims to authorize the transportation of LNG in rail tank cars designed for the DOT-113C120W specification.
