US Fishery Management Council Adopts Measures to Rebuild Atlantic Mackerel Stock

The US Fish and Wildlife Service has finalized a rule to implement measures to rebuild the Atlantic mackerel stock, which was found to be overfished and subject to overfishing in a recent stock assessment. The rule establishes a 5-year rebuilding program and sets specifications for the 2019-2021 fishing seasons to sustainably manage the fishery and achieve optimum yield.
