Medicare Program: Changes to Hospital Outpatient Prospective Payment and Ambulatory Surgical Center Payment Systems and Quality Reporting Programs

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is revising the Medicare hospital outpatient prospective payment system (OPPS) and the Medicare ambulatory surgical center (ASC) payment system for Calendar Year 2020, updating quality reporting requirements, and introducing prior authorization for certain outpatient services, while also addressing the closure of two teaching hospitals.
