EPA Proposes Approval of SNL's Remote-Handled Transuranic Waste Characterization Program

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is proposing to approve the remote-handled transuranic waste characterization program at Sandia National Laboratories (SNL), based on inspections conducted in June 2014 and an offsite document review from April to July 2019. The EPA's decision will determine whether SNL can continue to ship transuranic waste to the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) for disposal.
