NMFS Seeks Public Comment on Renewal Applications for Pacific Coast Groundfish Fishery Exempted Fishing Permits

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) is seeking public comment on renewal applications for three exempted fishing permits (EFPs) for the Pacific Coast Groundfish Fishery, which would allow fishing for rockfish species in non-trawl Rockfish Conservation Areas during the 2020 fishing year. The applications, submitted by the San Francisco Community Fishing Association, Scott Cook, and Real Good Fish, aim to test hook-and-line gear that targets underutilized rockfish species while avoiding overfished ones.
