NMFS Rejects Critical Habitat Designation for Giant Manta Ray

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) has determined that critical habitat designation for the giant manta ray is not prudent at this time, citing a lack of essential physical or biological features within U.S. jurisdiction and no areas outside of the species' geographical range that are crucial for its conservation.
