Whaling Provisions; Aboriginal Subsistence Whaling Quotas

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) has notified the public of the assigned aboriginal subsistence whaling quota for bowhead whales, which is 93 whales for 2020, and the limitations imposed by the International Whaling Commission (IWC) regulations. This quota governs the harvest of bowhead whales by the Alaska Eskimo Whaling Commission (AEWC).
