NRC Grants Exemption to Southern Nuclear for Vogtle Electric Generating Plant Units 3 and 4

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has granted an exemption to Southern Nuclear Operating Company, Inc. and its partners to deviate from the certification information of the Vogtle Electric Generating Plant's (VEGP) Tier 1 design control document, allowing for changes to the plant's Units 3 and 4. This exemption is being issued concurrently with License Amendment Nos. 173 and 171 to the Combined Licenses (COLs) for the VEGP.
