NRC Grants Exemption to Southern Nuclear for Vogtle Plant Upgrades

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has granted an exemption to Southern Nuclear Operating Company, Inc. to deviate from the certification information of Tier 1 of the generic design control document (DCD) for the Vogtle Electric Generating Plant (VEGP) Units 3 and 4, allowing for changes to the plant's steam generator system and main steam system. The exemption is being issued concurrently with License Amendment Nos. 164 and 162 to Combined Licenses (COLs) NPF-91 and NPF-92, respectively.
