Request for Information Regarding Relationship Banking and Customer Service

On June 14, 2022, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (Bureau or CFPB) requested information from the public regarding relationship banking and how consumers can assert the right to obtain timely responses to requests for information about their accounts from banks and credit unions with more than $10 billion in assets, as well as from their affiliates. The request for comment was published in the Federal Register on June 21, 2022, in a document titled, "Request for Information Regarding Relationship Banking and Customer Service." The Bureau has determined that a 30-day extension of the comment period until August 22, 2022, is appropriate.

Request for Information Regarding Promoting Access to Mortgage Credit

This notice requests information from the public about potential regulatory changes that may reduce regulatory burdens and promote access to mortgage credit, as appropriate and consistent with applicable law. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (Bureau or CFPB) seeks to reduce unwarranted regulatory burdens to ensure that creditworthy borrowers can access mortgage credit. Privacy Act of 1974; System of Records

In accordance with the Privacy Act of 1974, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB or Bureau) proposes to modify a current Privacy Act System of Records Notice (SORN) titled "CFPB.009- Employee Administrative Records System." This modification introduces a new routine use to permit the disclosure of records to the news media and the public under specific circumstances. The new routine use adopts the same standard applied under the Freedom of Information Act for determining whether information relating to personal privacy interests must be released to the public. In addition, the new routine use is consistent with routine uses adopted by other Federal agencies for systems of records concerning employee personnel files. This SORN enables the CFPB to manage and administer human capital functions related to current and former Bureau employees, volunteers, detailees, applicants, and persons who work at the Bureau, and their named dependents and/or beneficiaries, their named emergency contacts, and individuals who have been extended offers of employment.

Small Business Lending Under the Equal Credit Opportunity Act (Regulation B)

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (Bureau or CFPB) is revising certain provisions of Regulation B, subpart B, which implements changes to the Equal Credit Opportunity Act made by section 1071 of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act. The Bureau is amending coverage of certain credit transactions and financial institutions; the small business definition; inclusion of certain data points and how others are collected; and the compliance date. The Bureau believes these changes will streamline the rule, reduce complexity for lenders, improve data quality, and advance the purposes of section 1071.
