FCC Modifies ECACS System to Meet Privacy Act Requirements

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has modified its Emergency and Continuity Alerts and Contacts System (ECACS) to comply with the Privacy Act of 1974, a law that requires the agency to publish notice of its records in the Federal Register. The change aims to improve the effectiveness of Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) by incorporating enhanced geo-targeting capabilities.
