FSIS to Expand STEC Testing to Additional Raw Beef Products

The Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) plans to expand its testing for Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli (STEC) in ground beef and other raw beef products, in addition to the adulterant E. coli O157:H7. This expansion will include testing for six non-O157 STEC strains in ground beef samples collected at retail stores and other establishments.
