Tongass National Forest to Prepare Environmental Impact Statement for Greens Creek Mine Expansion

The US Department of Agriculture Forest Service is preparing a Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (SEIS) to assess the proposed North Extension Project (NEP) of the Greens Creek Mine, which would expand the disturbance area of the mine. The project, proposed by Hecla Greens Creek Mining Company, aims to amend the 2013 General Plan of Operations.
