IP5 Jurisdictions Hold 91% of Valid Patents Worldwide by End of 2021

According to the IP5 Statistics Report 2022, 91% of the 16.4 million patents in force globally by the end of 2021 were valid in at least one of the IP5 jurisdictions, which include the European Patent Office, Japanese Patent Office, Korean Intellectual Property Office, Chinese National Intellectual Property Administration, and the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
