FAA Amends Airworthiness Regulations for Transport Category Airplanes' Lightning Protection of Fuel Systems

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is updating its airworthiness regulations to provide a single standard for lightning protection of fuel systems on transport category airplanes, removing the need for triple-redundant fault tolerance and allowing manufacturers to choose their own safety measures to prevent catastrophic fuel vapor ignition caused by lightning.
