NMFS Announces Exempted Fishing Permit Application for Pacific Coast Groundfish Fishery

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) has received an application from the West Coast Seafood Processors Association, Environmental Defense Fund, Oregon Trawl Commission, and Midwater Trawlers Cooperative to test gear and fishing practices in the Pacific Coast Groundfish Fishery to minimize bycatch of salmon while targeting rockfish, with the goal of increasing flexibility for participating vessels under the Magnuson-Stevens Act.
