The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) is seeking input from stakeholders on whether to revive rulemaking to update regulations governing the licensing of uranium source material, with a focus on protecting groundwater at in-situ recovery facilities, which were previously put on hold in 2010.
