The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has confirmed the effective date of May 13, 2019, for a direct final rule that amended the agency's spent fuel storage regulations, specifically updating the Holtec International HI-STORM 100 Cask System listing. The rule change, which was published in the Federal Register on February 26, 2019, revises the technical specifications for the 16x16B and 16x16C assembly classes to match the initial uranium weight for the 16x16A class.
